Driver Wanted
Hopkins Oil has an immediate opening for a Driver. This job requires:
- Commercial Driver's License or CDL with A Classification and must have Tanker and Hazmat endorsements.
- Current Medical Card.
- Pass a drug test.
- Must pass a road test with a road-ranger transmission.
The trucks are 50,000lb. ten-wheel, 4,000 gallon fuel trucks.
Also must be able to drive a transport 80,000lb, 9000 gallons.
They load at the exchange terminals at Apex or Selma. We deliver to commercial fuel tanks or gas stations. Pay is $15 for training and $16 when permanent and guaranteed 40 hours per week. There is a bonus of ¼ cent per gallon paid quarterly on the ten-wheel trucks. There is a 90 day trial period. When a driver is made permanent then he or she can earn 40 hours per year of personal time and 40 hours of sick time. This is earned monthly or 3.33 hours of each per month. At the end of the year, any hours of personal or sick time that remain are paid in a lump sum at straight time. This gives those drivers who do not require a lot of time off a reward at the end of the year. We pay every other week or 26 paychecks per year and we do pay overtime.
After one's anniversary date*, a driver receives one week's off paid vacation. Each succeeding year after his anniversary date, he or she will receive an additional day of vacation up to five additional days or two weeks total. Therefore, after five years a driver will have earned two weeks vacation plus one week of sick leave and one week of personal time, a total of a month off per year.
Hopkins Oil pays ½ of the health insurance for each employee. Our current plan is with Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
After one's first anniversary date, an employee is fully vested in our Simple plan. Hopkins Oil contributes 2% matching to the 2% each employee invests in the plan. The investment is portable should one leave. There is no requirement to invest in our Simple plan. The matching amount varies each year but according to the law.
*Anniversary date is the date an employee started not the date he or she was made permanent.
