A Letter To Congressman Price

Dear Congressman Price:

I have a simple idea that might help.

People are receiving unemployment checks but would rather work.

Employers are reluctant to hire at this time but some of them would like to do so.

Why not allow unemployed persons to continue to receive benefits while allowing employers to hire them and pay just the difference between those benefits and the normal pay (in other words a discount for an incentive).
This would be a two year agreement signed by all three (including employment security folks). The unemployment benefits would be paid only for the first year and the employer must retain the worker for an additional year at full pay or have to repay the incentive.

Unemployment benefits are already loaded into the system so this would not cost the tax payer any additional monies and debt, but it would allow employees to pay their house payment. In two years the economy should be on the way to recovery. This would bridge that two-year gap and reemployment and housing would pick up much quicker.

Persons would have to be out of work for some period, say 6 months. Otherwise, SOME employers would lay all of their employees off and then rehire them just to receive the discount. That’s what made America great.
